JACKSON, Miss. – Haley Hanson of the Belhaven Softball team and Hunter Williams of the Belhaven Men's Track & Field Team have been named the C Spire Athletes of the Week following their performances over the past week.

Haley Hanson helped the Blazers get the 3-0 sweep over Hardin Simmons at Jim McLeod Field this past weekend. Her best game came in game two of the series when she went 2-for-2 from the plate with two home runs, two runs scored, one walk, and 3 RBI. In three games last week, the Pelahatchie, Miss. native finished with a batting average of .555, went 5-9 at the plate, hit two home runs, one double, and 3 RBI.

Hunter Williams had a stellar performance last week at the 2022 Strawberry Relays that was hosted by Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La. Williams had a career best performance in the Discus Throw with a distance of 43.22m, which puts him in 1^st place in the American Southwest Conference in the Discus Throw. Two weeks ago at the Southern Miss Invitational he claimed the top spot in the Shot Put in the Conference with a throw of 14.17m.

Hanson and the rest of the Blazers will return to action on Friday April 22 in a doubleheader against the University of the Ozarks Eagles in Clarksville, Ark. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

Williams and the Belhaven Track & Field team will return to play on Thursday, April 28 at the Mike McMillan Twilight (hosted by Mississippi College) in the final meet before the American Southwest Conference Championships.
