MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The Belhaven Baseball finished out their non-conference schedule in the 2022 regular season on Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep of Hendrix College at the USA Stadium Complex, a neutral site venue.
GAME ONE
Belhaven opened the scoring in the first game of the doubleheader, a nine-inning contest.
Dawson Albin grabbed a solo home run with his first at-bat of the game to put Belhaven in front 1-0 over the Warriors in the 2nd inning.
Hendrix, who was the home team for the first game, answered with two runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to take their first lead and then added a run in the bottom of the 4th and lead 3-1 through five innings.
In the top of the 6th the Blazers got a second run on the board when
Chase Kitchens reached on an error that scored
Nick Lucido from third base. The Warriors found an answer though in the bottom of the 7th to restore their two-run advantage.
The Blazers' bats came through in the top of the 8th inning though starting with a sac bunt by
Hunter White to scored
Nick Lucido. The Blazers then tied the game on a base hit from
Hunter Estes that scored
Dawson Albin.
Belhaven got the go-ahead run and eventual winner in the same frame when
Matthew Charbonnet had a hard-hit ball stay just inside the foul line at third that scored Estes from second base.
In the final two innings of the game, Belhaven reliever
Logan Goodreau slammed the door shut holding the home team without much by way of scoring opportunities and securing the BU win.

GAME TWO
In the second game of the doubleheader it was Hendrix, the visitors in the game, who struck first on the scoreboard manufacturing a run in the top of the 1st inning with a well-place grounder that turned into an RBI infield hit.
Belhaven answered in quick fashion though with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 1st after
Nick Lucido picked up an RBI single that scored
Nathan Herron who had reached on an error. The Blazers then took the lead with their second run in the frame when
Dawson Albin picked up an infield single that scored Lucido from third base.
In the 4th inning Belhaven opened up a gap between themselves and Hendrix with a four-run frame. Belhaven started the inning with three straight hits from
Hunter Estes,
Matthew Charbonnet and
Adam Leonard to load the bases with nobody out.
Kyle McLaughlin then drove in a pair of runs on a 2 RBI single to center field.
Belhaven would go on to add two more runs in the inning after
Nick Lucido and
Dawson Albin delivered back-to-back base hits each scoring a run to put Belhaven up 6-1 heading to the 5th inning.
Hendrix went on to get a run back in the 6th inning but couldn't muster enough for a comeback bid as the Blazers' held on to take both ends of the doubleheader and improve to 22-12 on the season and 7-3 against non-conference opponents.

The Blazers will return to ASC action on Friday when they open up a three-game series against University of the Ozarks, the final home stand of the regular season. First pitch on Friday is set for 4 PM with Senior Day festivities scheduled for Saturday prior to the 1 PM contest.
