BELTON, Texas - The Belhaven Softball team split their doubleheader against the #25 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru on the road. The Cru took game one by a final score of 8-2, but the Blazers responded and defeated the Cru in the second game 10-3. The Blazers move to 19-3 overall and 12-2 in American Southwest Conference play.

GAME ONE

In the first game of the day the Blazers fell behind early to the Cru on an RBI single in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Belhaven tied the ball game up at 1 after an error that scored Anna McNeer from second base. The game remained tied until the bottom of the 5^th inning when UMHB plated two additional runs to put the Cru on top 3-1. In the bottom of the 6^th inning the Cru scored five runs to extend their lead to 8-1.

The Blazers got a run back from an RBI single by Allie Gordon to cut the lead to 8-2 in the top of the 7^th inning. The Cru went on to defeat the Blazers 8-2 in game one of the doubleheader

GAME TWO

The Blazers followed up the first game of the day with an offensive clinic in the second contest with the runs starting in the top of the 3rd inning. Haley Hanson opened up the scoring for the Blazers with a RBI single that scored Anna McNeer to make the score 1-1. With two outs and runners on second and third, Ellie Jones blasted a three run homer to give Green and Gold the 4-1 advantage in the top of the 3^rd inning.

Leading 4-1 going into the 5th inning Ellie Jones went yard again with her fourth homerun of the season to extend the Blazers lead to 6-1. In the bottom half of the inning, the Cru scored two runs to cut the lead to 6-3, however Allie Gordon hit a solo homer in the top of the 7^th to extend the Blazers' lead to 7-3. BU added three additional runs in the 7^th and would go on to defeat the Cru 10-3 to split the doubleheader on the day.

The Blazers will return to action on Saturday, March 26 in Belton, Texas with the series on the line with the Cru. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
