JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven University women's basketball team dropped a matchup to the East Texas Baptist University Tigers by a final score of 81-47 inside Rugg Arena. The Blazers fall to 8-8 overall and 4-8 in conference play.
The Blazers fell behind early in the first quarter and remained behind as the Tigers took the 25-2 lead going into the second quarter. The Blazers outscored the Tigers in the second quarter, but the Tigers held the 37-16 advantage going into the halftime break.
The Tigers continued to shoot well from the floor to open the third quarter as they went on an 11-4 run midway through the third frame. ETBU continued to score in the latter part of the third quarter to make the score 64-34 going to the final quarter. The Blazers were outscored 17-13 in the final frame to bring the final score to 81-47.
Ladedra Bryant led the Blazers with 11 points and shot 44.4 percent from the field.
Xhiir Burgess finished the game with eight points and eight rebounds, while Brookelynn Saxton finished the contest with five points.
The Blazers will return to action on Thursday, February 10 against Mississippi University for Women Owls in the final non-conference matchup of the season. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
