JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Baseball team split their Saturday double-header against LeTourneau University with a 7-1 win in the first game of the day and a 7-4 loss in the nightcap. With the win the Blazers clinched the series win over the YellowJackets two games to one.
GAME ONE
In the first game of the afternoon and the second of the series it was the Blazers who struck first after
Caleb Whittle scored from third on a wild pitch in the first inning.
In the third inning Belhaven was able to take a firmer hold on the game picking up four runs in the frame to lead 5-0. The first run of the inning came when
Chase Kitchens scored on a wild pitch and was followed by a run from
Gabe Inman who also scored on a successive wild pitch.
Belhaven picked up two more runs in the inning on a throwing error by the LeTourneau first baseman that saw
Kyle McLaughlin and
Hunter White cross the plate.
The Blazers went on to add another run in the fourth inning with
Dawson Albin scoring on a passed ball and then took a 7-0 lead in the fifth inning following an RBI triple from
Nathan Herron which scored
Adam Leonard.
Belhaven starter
Harris Coleman was dominant on the mound for the Blazers holding the visitors scoreless through six inning and allowing just a late unearned run en route to a complete game victory, his first of the season.

GAME TWO
In the second game of the day and the third of the series the two teams matched up in a pitcher's duel with
Beau Louviere and Aman Patel trading scoreless innings in the first two frames while each allowing just a single hit.
The visitors struck the first blow with a single run in the top of the third inning and taking a 1-0 lead, a score line which held until the eighth inning. In the top of the eighth LeTourneau extended their lead to 3-0 with a pair of runs and then added four more in the top of the ninth.
With Belhaven trailing 7-0 in the home half of the ninth the Blazers' bats finally produced and after loading the bases with nobody out, RBI singles from
Dawson Albin and
Chase Kitchens cut into the lead with four runs. However, the Blazers' comeback bid fell short with LeTourneau avoiding the sweep with a 7-4 win.
