MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Belhaven University volleyball team fell on Thursday night to Huntingdon College on the road in straight sets.
In the opening set, the Green and Gold got off to a slow start as the Hawks took the 25-14 first set victory. Belhaven and Huntington went back and for the majority of the second set, but the Hawks went on an 8-1 run to close the second set by a final score line of 25-17 to gain the 2-0 advantage. The Blazers played a close third set, but Huntingdon pulled away late to capture the 25-19 set victory and take the match 3-0.
In the match,
Rylee White and
Ellie Jones led the Green and Gold with six kills apiece. Additionally,
Emma Gardner finished the night with five kills and led the team with three service aces. Defensively,
Rylee White tallied two blocks, while
Miriam Ateca finished the contest with nine assists.
Paige Broussard concluded the match with 13 digs to lead the Blazers.
The Blazers will look to bounce back on Saturday, October 22 against Agnes Scott and Berea College in Decatur, Ga. First serve is set for 11:00 am CST.
