MARSHALL, Texas - The Belhaven baseball team saw their 2021 season come to a close on Friday afternoon after being eliminated from the ASC Championship Tournament. The Blazers were beaten by the Louisiana College Wildcats 10-7 in the double-elimination tournament after falling to ETBU on Thursday in 11 innings. 

In Friday's contest the Blazers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. The Wildcats would answer in the bottom of the 3rd inning though with a five run frame that included a pair of home runs. 

The Wildcats added a pair of runs in the 4th inning to take a 7-2 advantage and despite a run in the top of the 6th for Belhaven, the Wildcats continued to put distance between themselves and the Blazers. 

Belhaven would look to rally in the 8th inning with a three run frame with the Blazers capitalizing on a defensive error by the Wildcats and the top of the order driving in runs. The 8th inning closed the gap to 10-6 and Belhaven scored a run in the 9th but in the end the comeback bid came up short.

Luke Miller and Beau Louviere both pitched well out of the bullpen for the Blazers with the two relievers each throwing over an inning of work without allowing a run. 

Nathan Herron led the Blazers at the plate finishing the game with four hits as well as an RBI and a run scored. Kyle McLaughlin also finished the contest with four hits to pair with an RBI and run scored. Caleb Whittle finished the game with a trio of hits including a double. 

The Blazers finish the year 20-18 overall and 15-12 in ASC regular season play. The mark notches the best record under Head Coach Kyle Palmer who saw his first campaign at the helm of Blazers' baseball cut short in the Spring of 2020.
