BELTON, Texas - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team saw their 2021 season come to an end on Friday afternoon after they fell to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the quarterfinals of the American Southwest Conference tournament.
The Blazers were beaten 1-0 with the lone goal for the Cru coming via the penalty spot in the 68th minute.
Early in the contest UMHB was able to generate pressure with their first shot on target coming less than two minutes in. Belhaven goalie
Lauren Knorr was up to the task in dealing with the early pressure and the Blazers were able to generate first half chances of their own.
In the second half the game was level with both teams limited in their opportunities. The decisive moment came with just over 20 minutes to play when Belhaven was whistled for a foul in the penalty area and Kristen Burdick converted from the spot.
Belhaven worked to find a way back into the match but came up short on the day.
The Blazers finish the 2021 spring season with a record of 4-3-1. They will look to build on the lessons learned this year when the fall season commences later this year.
