ALPINE, Texas - The Belhaven University Softball team completed their American Southwest Conference Series against the Sul Ross State University Lobos on Saturday, March 27. The Lobos beat the Blazers by a final of 7-1 in the third game of the series.
The Lobos scored two runs in the first inning, one in the second, three in the third, and their final run came in the fourth inning to take a 7-0 lead, while the Blazers run came in the seventh inning as
Allie Gordon smashed her second home run of the 2021 season.
Jovi Jones got the start in the circle for the Blazers and now has an overall record of 3-2. Jones pitched two innings allowing three runs on five hits with one strikeout.
Bailey Root pitched three innings of relief allowing four runs on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout, while
Dallas Blaker pitched one shutout inning of relief with two walks and one strikeout during the contest.
The Blazers are now 17-6 overall and 9-3 in ASC play and will return to action hosting the University of the Ozarks this week. The series starts with a single game on Thursday, April 1, starting at 3 p.m, with a double header on Friday, April 2, scheduled for 12 p.m., and 2 p.m.
