LONGVIEW, Texas - The Belhaven Volleyball team fell to LeTourneau University on Tuesday as the Blazers continue the early goings of their 2021 schedule.
The Blazers made the trip to Longview, Texas on Tuesday to face the unbeaten LeTourneau Yellowjackets in a pair of road matches. Belhaven fell in both matches, going down 3-1 in match one and 3-0 in match two.
MATCH ONE
The Blazers took the first set of the initial match 25-21 with a mid-set run helping Belhaven gain momentum. Belhaven took three straight points to open up a 16-12 advantage with the run kicked off by a kill from
Chelsea Creighton. The hosts bounced back quickly though winning the next three sets in succession.
In the match, the Blazers were led by
Emily Carroll who finished with a team-high 10 kills, her match-high on the year. Senior
Sydney McEachern finished the first match with 18 digs which also represented her high mark on the young season.
Grace Eidson led the Blazers with 14 set assists in the first match.
MATCH TWO
In the second match of the night, the Blazers fell in straight sets with the Yellowjackets coming out strong in a 25-8 set victory.
Caitlin Torok finished the second match with seven kills to lead the Blazers. Torok's seven kills is a career-high for the freshman from Huntsville, Alabama. McEachern added 12 digs to her season total which now sits at a team-leading 71 through six matches.
The Blazers return to Rugg Arena for their next action when they host East Texas Baptist University for two matches on March 12th. The first match against the Tigers is set for 5 PM.
