MARSHALL, Texas - The Belhaven Women's Basketball team saw their season come to a close on Wednesday falling to #2 East Texas Baptist 76-48 in the first round of the ASC Tournament.
The Blazers, facing a 23-0 ETBU squad, got off to a slow start in the first quarter which saw the hosts jump out to a 17 point lead. Belhaven kept it close in the second quarter and trailed 43-24 going into halftime.Â
ETBU started the second half strong extending their lead on the Blazers and the Belhaven advantage in the final frame couldn't overcome the deficit with the hosts coming out on top, 76-48.Â
Destiny Johnson led the way for the Blazers with 16 points on 4-9 shooting while adding on eight rebounds. Both marks represented team-highs on the day.
Kourtne Lee finished with 13 points in the game, just shy of her career-high 14 points set earlier this season at Birmingham-Southern.
The Blazers finished their season 6-12 overall and 3-10 in ASC play. Inside Rugg Arena, the Blazers were 5-4 on the year.Â
