LONGVIEW, Texas - The Belhaven Men's Basketball team was beaten on Thursday in a road matchup against unbeaten LeTourneau University by a 78-66 final score.
The Blazers went back and forth with the hosts in the early going, trading baskets and the lead throughout the first half. At the break, the two teams were tied a 35-35 with
Luke Couch leading all scorers with 14 points.
In the second half, LeTourneau was able to put a gap between themselves and BU leading by 12 points at the midway point of the second half.
Belhaven was able to trim the deficit some and with just under three minutes to play trailed 71-64 however late made shots by the hosts helped them pull away late.
Luke Couch finished the game as the top scorer for both sides with a season high 29 points on 8-16 shooting. Couch went 4-8 from beyond the three point line and went 9-11 from the charity stripe while adding five rebounds and five assists.
Arother Ratliff contributed 14 points in the game while posting a team-high eight rebounds.
The Blazers will be back in action next Thursday as they host Howard Payne in Rugg Arena. Tip off is set for 7:30 PM.
