SHREVEPORT, La. - The Belhaven Women's Basketball team picked up a 62-51 road win on Saturday against Centenary College to improve to 4-1 on the season.
Belhaven was able to take a quick lead in the contest before the hosts rebounded to take control. The two teams traded baskets in the first quarter but BU was able to pull away opening a 16-10 lead on the Ladies.
In the second quarter Belhaven was able to pull away taking a double digit, 23-13 lead at the 7:10 mark of the second quarter. A second quarter rally though by Centenary saw the hosts lead 29-26 at the break.
The two teams remained tight through the third quarter but BU was able to start to pull away in the fourth leading by 12 with just over three minutes to go in the game. Strong free throw shooting at the end of the game saw Belhaven pick up the 62-51 win in the end.
Nyah Davis led the Blazers with 13 points on 5-18 shooting from the field.
Shomaria Overton finished with a full stat sheet with 11 points, seven rebounds and six steals.
Xhiir Burgess picked up 10 points and nine rebounds.
As a team Belhavne shot 34.3% from the field and 30% from beyond the arc. They picked up 14 steals and won the rebounding battle 43-41.
