JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University volleyball team team fell in straight sets against ASC foe Hardin-Simmons University Cowgirls inside Rugg Arena to close out the 2021 season. The Blazers honored Emily Carroll, Callista Moore, Grace Laukhuf, Grace Eidson, and Assistant Coach Allison Laatsch in pregame.

The Cowgirls controlled the first set early on and never allowed the Blazers to gain an momentum until late in the set. The Blazers fought back from being down by eight and scored six of the final nine points, but came up short as HSU claimed the first set 25-20.

The Blazers could not find any rhythm early on as the Cowgirls led 15-4 midway through the second set. The Green and Gold caught an offensive spark and scored seven of the next eight points to narrow the lead to just five points. HSU took control the rest of the set to earn the 25-15 set victory over the Blazers.

Belhaven fell behind early on in the third and final set, but the Blazers fought back to cut the lead to just two points late in the set. The Cowgirls closed out the final set scoring five straight points to take the 25-18 set victory and the match.

Senior Emily Carroll led the Blazers with six kills and posted a service ace. Ellie Jones had a team high six blocks, while Seniors Grace Eidson and Grace Laukhuf finished the match with 11 assists. Callista Moore totaled five digs and one block in the contest. Lilliana Marlowe led the Blazers with nine digs and registered an ace.

The Blazers conclude their 2021 volleyball season.
