Blazers Sting Yellowjackets on the Road

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Belhaven men's soccer team (4 - 3 - 1)  earned their first road conference victory against the Howard Payne University Yellow Jackets (2 - 7 - 1) by the score of 1-0.

Conference road wins are never easy to grasp, especially in Texas. These games simply mean more to both sides. Having dropped their previous 3 matches, the Yellow Jackets were buzzing to turn around their season. In a contest unbelievably tense, All it took was one moment of brilliance to earn the win.

The match started like a chess match as they were tactically unbreakable. With both teams seeking momentum, this heated affair slowly became a must-win for both teams. 10 minutes into the second half, the difference came from a magical strike by Forward Enzo Guercio from 35 yards out, which was his first goal of the season.

"I knew it was going to come, but playing as a Striker is more than just scoring," Enzo states,"More importantly, we secured the win as a team and we look forward to building from our performance."

The Blazers finished the game with five shots and kept their second consecutive clean sheet. Dustin Byers picked up his first assist of the season. Max Rudolph made four saves as his steady hands were in full effect tonight.

"It is always tough to pick up road wins on the road in this conference," Coach Gleddy states, "We performed well today and we fully deserved the victory. The lads are thrilled with our triumph."

The Blazers will return home to face LeTourneau University on Thursday, October 7th at 7:30 pm.
