JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Baseball team finished off a series win against Hardin-Simmons on Saturday coming out on top in a 14-8 offensive battle.
For the third time in the series, the Blazers scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning after
Justin Milam delivered an RBI single with two outs that scored
Nick Lucido. Belhaven added four runs in the bottom of the second a pair of which scored on an RBI double from
Hunter White.
Belhaven's 5-0 lead would be cut to just one after the visitors pushed four runs across in the top of the third inning. The Blazers would stay hot at the plate though scoring four runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the fifth, due in large part to four errors committed by the Cowboys in the fifth inning. Hardin-Simmons would try to rally in the sixth adding a trio of runs and then a lone score in the eighth but Belhaven would come out on top in the ASC contest.
Harris Coleman started for the Blazers and threw two innings allowing four runs on two hits.
Beau Louviere picked up the win throwing three innings in relief surrendering three runs while striking out three.
Five Blazers ended the game with multi-hit performances.
Hunter White finished 2-5 with three runs and three RBIs.
Logan Walters went 2-5 at the plate with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.
With the win, Belhaven moves to 8-8 on the season and 5-4 in conference play. The Blazers have won six of their last seven games and will return to action on March 20th when they face McMurry University in Abilene for a three-game series.
