JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University men's basketball team fell to the LeTourneau University Yellowjackets by a final score 95-73 in American Southwest Conference play. With the loss, the Blazers fall to 7-9 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

The Blazers and Yellowjackets exchanged buckets for the majority of the first half, but LeTourneau pushed the lead out to 34-21 with 5:17 remaining in the first half. Josh Roberts cut the lead to nine points with 30 seconds remaining until halftime. The Yellowjackets held on to the 41-32 advantage going into the break.

The Green and Gold cut the lead to five points early on, but the Yellowjackets stormed back to take a 26 point lead with 7:17 remaining in regulation. LeTourneau continued to shoot well from the field and would eventually claim the victory by a final score of 95-73.

There were four Blazers that scored double-digits in tonight's game. Senior Brosnan Cooks led the Blazers with 18 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Additionally, he shot 83% (10-12) from the charity stripe on the night. Luke Couch tallied 13 points, three rebounds, and two steals in the contest. Justin Jones finished with 11 points, while Trai James totaled 10 points. Both athletes were perfect from the free throw line.

As a team, the Blazers had 36 points in the paint, 20 fast break points, and shot 82.1 percent from the charity stripe.

The Blazers return to action on Saturday, January 25 against East Texas Baptist University Tigers inside Rugg Arena. Tip off is set for 3:00 p.m.
