JACKSON, Miss – The Belhaven University baseball team was defeated on Wednesday night by the Huntingdon College Hawks by a final score of 14-3 in non-conference play.
The Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of play with the help of a single and fielding error to take the quick advantage over the Blazers.
In the bottom half of the first inning, Justin Milam delivered a two-run home run to left field to notch the game back up at 2-2. The home run was Milam's fourth home run of the season.
The very next inning, the Hawks regained the lead with a three-spot on the scoreboard to make the score 5-2 after two innings of play.
In the bottom of the third, Tucker Calhoun reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Hunter White to cross over home plate to cut the Hawks lead down to 5-3. Unfortunately, the Hawks scored nine unanswered runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings combined to claim the victory over the Green and Gold by a final of 14-3.

Belhaven finished with 7 hits as a team in the game.
Justin Milam led Belhaven on the night with three hits (3-for-3) including a two-run home run (4) in the first inning of the game.
Nathan Herron, Hunter White, Evan Moore, and Tucker Calhoun each collected a hit. Calhoun finished with one run batted in as Moore and White each scored a run.
UP NEXT
The Blazers will remain at home this weekend for a doubleheader matchup this Friday versus the University of Texas at Tyler at Smith-Wills Stadium. Game one is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
