JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Men's Basketball team fell to Huntingdon College 88-83 on Monday at Rugg Arena.
The Blazers got off to a rocky start offensively going scoreless in the first 3:30 of the game. They would find the scoring touch quickly though and rally to take a 21-20 lead at the halfway point of the first period. It would stay a back and forth game until a late first half run gave Huntingdon a 50-43 lead going into the break.
Each side went back and forth on the offensive end in the second half before Belhaven was able to close the gap to a two-point game with 4:30 left in the second half. Huntingdon would hold on though despite solid three-point shooting from the Blazers and come away with the win.
Belhaven was led by
Rick Hodum with 13 points going 4-6 from three.
Trai James continued to rack up the assists finishing with nine to go along with 11 points.
Luke Couch scored 11 points as well in 29 minutes. As a team, Belhaven shot 43.5% from the field and 42.1% from three while generating 23 total assists.
The Blazers will look to rebound, Thursday, January 2nd, when they open conference play against Howard Payne University. Tip off in Brownwood, Texas is set for 7:30 PM.
