Blazers Drop Pair In Regular Season Finale

Memphis, Tenn. - The Belhaven Blazers Volleyball team took to the road for a pair of matches against the Hendrix College Warriors and the Rhodes College Lynx to wrap up their regular season play on Saturday, November 2.

In the first match against the Hendrix College Warriors, the Blazers fell by a final of 3-1, losing the first two sets 25-21 and 28-26, winning set three 32-30, and then falling in the fourth set 25-20.

Sophomore Callista Moore led the team in kills and blocks with 16 and two respectively, while junior Sydney McEachern led the team in digs and aces with 20 and six respectively. Sophomore Grace Eidson led the team in assits with 16, was tied for second in blocks and digs with one and 13 respectively, while junior Megan Nobles was tied with Eidson in digs with 13 and was second on the team in aces with four. Sophomore Chelsea Creighton was tied with Eidson in blocks with one and was third in kills with seven, while freshman Faith Stone was second on the team in kills with nine. Freshman Viven Marquez was third on the team in aces with three, freshman Madison McGuire was third in assists with eight, and sophomore Grace Laukhauf was second in assists with 15.

In their second match of the day, the Blazers fell to the Lynx by a final of 3-1, winning the first set 25-23,Moore then losing the next three sets, 25-13, 25-10, and 25-23. Once again, Moore led the team in kills with eight, McEachern led the team in digs with 22, senior Evelyn Parker led the team in blocks with six, while Eidson and McGuire led the team in assists with ten apiece. Laukhauf was second on the team in assists with eight, Eidson and sophomore Kristin Fogan were second on the team in digs with nine each, Stone was second on the team in kills with seven, while Creighton and Marquez tied for second on the team in blocks with three apiece. Freshman Izabella Erickson finished third on the team in kills with six, while McEachern, Moore, and Laukhauf each had one ace to lead the Blazers in the category.

The Blazers finish the 2019 season with an overall record of 8-22 and 3-11 in American Southwest Conference play.
