Box Score SEGUIN, Texas - The Belhaven Football team traveled to Seguin, Texas on Saturday where they fell 34-14 to Texas Lutheran University.
The Blazers jumped out to an early lead in the contest scoring on their opening drive. Belhaven went 81 yards on seven plays from the opening kick, capped off with a 19-yard touchdown pass from
Hunter McEachern to
Mayowa Asagunla. The Bulldogs, who sit joint top of the ASC, would answer back quickly though on a 57-yard touchdown pass on the following drive.
Texas Lutheran would add a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter and another in the second quarter to take a 27-7 lead. The Blazers would answer as time expired in the first half when McEachern hit
Nick Lauderdale for a seven yard touchdown making it a 27-14 game entering the break.
In the second half, Texas Lutheran would score with less than five minutes remaining to close out the scoring with the game ending 34-14 in favor of the hosts.
On the afternoon, the Blazers' offense was led by
Hunter McEachern who went 20-37 for 212 yards with a pair of touchdowns and a pair of interceptions.
Tyrus Black would lead Belhaven with 70 yards receiving on three catches. Asagunla and Lauderdale would each have a receiving touchdown.
Brad Foley would carry the ball nine times for 52 yards on the day.
Defensively, the Blazers were led by
Connor Fordham who racked up 16 total tackles, nine of which were solo efforts. Fordham also had the lone Belhaven sack on the day.
Colton Strain and
David Lewis would both have nine total tackles against the Bulldogs. Mitchell Wibiral had a pair of tackles for loss, equaling that of
Connor Fordham.
Seth Gatson had an interception, his second of the season.
The Blazers will return to Belhaven Bowl Stadium on Saturday, November 9th for Homecoming. Belhaven hosts Sul Ross State in the final home game of the season. Kickoff is set for 1 PM.
