BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Belhaven Football team finished off their 2019 season Saturday afternoon, falling 17-3 on the road at Howard Payne University. 

Howard Payne opened up the scoring with nine minutes to go in the first quarter on a 43-yard field goal. The Blazers would tie the game just over five minutes into the second quarter when reigning ASC Special Teams Player of the Week, Cade Ganey, hit a 25-yard field goal. 

With less than a minute remaining in the first half, Howard Payne took a 10-3 lead on a four-yard touchdown pass. Howard Payne would add the only score of the second half with 13 minutes left in the game on a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. 

On the day for Belhaven, Hunter McEachern went 15-34 for 216 yards and three interceptions. Kolbe Blunt ran for 54 yards on five carries and Austin Fletcher had 53 yards on three rushes. Fabien Williams finished the afternoon with four receptions and 97 yards.

The Belhaven defense was led by Connor Fordham who recorded 11 total tackles. David Lewis had nine tackles for the Blazers including a pair of tackles for loss. Seth Gatson and Phazion Locke both recorded an interception on the day. As a group the Blazers defense held Howard Payne to just 201 yards of total offense.
