Blazers Earn 2-1 Victory Over Yellow Jackets

JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven University men's soccer team picked up a 2-1 victory over Howard Payne Thursday evening in American Southwest Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Howard Payne netted the first goal of the match after Michael Westerman scored off of a penalty kick to take a 1-0 advantage in the 12th minute.

- The Blazers quickly responded in the 25th minute when Max Maguire found the back of the net to even the score up at 1-1. Alex Hale earned the assist on the goal.

- The Green and Gold took the 2-1 lead when Alex Hale scored his sixth goal of the season off of an assist by Max Maguire.

- Belhaven went into the break with the 2-1 advantage.

- The Blazers' Defense held strong for the next 45 minutes of action to seal the 2-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
