JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University volleyball team continued their dominance at the Belhaven Classic, as they rolled to two more straight set wins on Saturday afternoon at Rugg Arena.

The Blazers defeated both Mississippi University for Women and Central Baptist College again with 3-0 sweeps.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- MUW Match

- The Blazers came roaring out of the gate once again and found themselves ahead 10-2 in the opening set early on.

- Due to unforced errors from MUW, the Blazers' lead increased out to 16-5.

- With a substantial advantage in the set, Belhaven cruised to an easy 25-11 set victory.

- The Green and Gold made quick work of the Owls again in the second set as their lead was never threatened.

- Belhaven led 11-5 and then won 11 out of the next 12 points to pull away 21-6

- The Blazers had a tougher time stringing together momentum in the third set with just a 10-9 lead.

- However, Belhaven found their groove again, and ended the match by winning the final 15 points of the third set.

-CBC Match

- Belhaven carried its momentum from the MUW match over to the CBC match in the first set.

- The Blazers led 10-3 in the first set following back-to-back kills from Callista Moore and Ryan Hardin.

- After extending their lead to seven points, Belhaven never allowed the Mustangs to cut into the deficit for the remainder of the set.

- In the second set, the Blazers found themselves trailing in the opening stages.

- Central Baptist increased its lead out to 13-7 and were looking to even the match.

- Belhaven showed great resilience and rallied back into the set by capping off the next 15 points to pull ahead 22-13 and eventually win the set with ease.

- In the third and final set, Belhaven never trailed. The Blazers accumulated a 10-4 lead midway through the set.

- The Green and Gold tallied 12 kills as a team in the final set to end the match in straight sets with another set victory.

- MUW Match

- The Blazers hit over .500 in the first two sets of the contest, and finished the match with a .476 hitting percentage.

- Belhaven also registered 10 service aces in the victory.

- Jackie Fredericks notched a team-high 10 kills.

- Lauren Whiting posted seven digs and five kills.

- Meghan Luker and Grace Laukhuf each recorded 12 assists.

- Megan Nobles and Sydney McEachern finished with five combined service aces. McEachern also added nine digs.

- CBC Match

- Belhaven ended the match with a season-high 37 kills and 14 service aces.

- Carissa Pauda tabbed a team-high 11 kills at the net.

- Callista Moore and Jackie Fredericks registered seven kills apiece.

- Megan Nobles placed eight service aces in the win.

- Sydney McEachern totaled 14 digs to lead the Blazers'.

- Lauren Whiting added five kills and eight digs.

UP NEXT

Belhaven will return to Rugg Arena next Friday as they will play host in the Belhaven/Millsaps Invitational. The Blazers will face off against Rust and Tougaloo on Friday beginning at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m.
