JACKSON, Miss- The Belhaven baseball team lost a heart breaker to the Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers on Saturday after falling by a final score of 10-8 in eleven innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pioneers crossed the board first in the top of the second inning after Jonny Kelso scored on an error to make the score 1-0. 
- It did not take long for Belhaven to tie the ball game at 1-1 as Colton Fontana scored on a pass ball in the bottom half of the second inning.
- Three more runs in the fourth inning pushed the Pioneers lead out to 4-1. 
- Back to back doubles from Kreg Garner and Will Costinett, as well as a single from Colton Fontana helped the Blazers to tie the ball game back up at 4-4 in the fifth inning of the game.
- After reaching second base on a stolen base, Evan Moore later scored on another double to right field from Kreg Garner, giving the Blazers its first lead of the game, 5-4.
- A three run top of the seventh inning once again prompted the Pioneers to regain the lead, this time jumping out to a 7-5 advantage. 
- Evan Moore collected his third hit of the afternoon along with his first RBI in the contest as he singled to left field, scoring Antoine Watts all the way from second base. The run cut the lead down to 7-6 in the bottom half of the seventh inning.
- The Pioneers continued to stretch its lead out as Josh Moses belted a home run deep over the left field wall, extending the Pioneer lead to 8-6.
- In the bottom of the eighth inning, Colton Fontana continued to be a force at the plate, hitting his second triple of the series and hitting across two runs to help the Blazers the game up at 8-8.
- The two teams needed extra inning to decide this contest, and in the top half of the eleventh inning the Pioneers struck first with two runs to retake the lead 10-8.
- Down to their final three outs, Belhaven was unable to string together any runs in the bottom half of the eleventh inning. The Pioneers won by a final score of 10-8 and tied the series up at 1-1.

KEY STATISTICS
- Five Blazers collected double digit hits with Colton Fontana leading the charge with four on the afternoon. Fontana finished 4-for-6 with one run, three RBIs, and a triple.
- Kreg Garner collected two hits, two RBIs, and two doubles in the game.
- Will Costinett had a yet another multi-hit game, finishing 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.
- Antoine Watts ended his night with two hits while second baseman Evan Moore tallied three hits, including two bunt singles. Moore scored two runs and had two stolen bases in the game.
- As a team, the Blazers posted 16 hits in the contest. For the weekend, Belhaven has 27 hits.

UP NEXT
The Blazers and the Pioneers will return to the diamond on Monday for game three of the series. First pitch will be at 4:00 p.m. with Tyler Wolfe expected to toe the rubber for the Blazers for the series finale.
