JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University baseball team dropped two contests at home on Friday evening to the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor Cru at Smith-Wills Stadium in American Southwest Conference play.
The Blazers fell in game one by a score of 4-1, and then slipped in game two 7-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game one
- Mary-Hardin Baylor scored all four of their runs in the game in the top of the first.
- The Cru scored the first run on a bases loaded walk, followed by back-to-back fielder's choices, and then a sacrifice fly to lead 4-0.
- BU struggled to get consistent runners on base throughout the game.
- Belhaven's best chance to make a comeback came in the fifth inning.
- Evan Moore and Colton Fontana both reached on back-to-back singles.
- Gasper D'Anna would draw a walk to load up the bases.
- Belhaven's only run of the contest came in the bottom half of the fifth off of a fielder's choice from Hunter Harsh scoring Evan Moore from third base.
- However, Belhaven would strand three runners on base to end the inning.
- The Blazers were limited to just four hits in the game, and stranded five runners on base.

- Game two
- It was a pitcher's duel early on in game two as Tyler Wolfe was on the mound for the Green and Gold.
- Both teams were held scoreless in the first four innings of play.
- The Cru got on the board in the top of the fifth on back-to-back RBI singles out to center field for a 2-0 advantage.
- Belhaven would close the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth by scoring one run off of a Will Costinett fielder's choice. Hunter Harsh crossed the plate to make it a 2-1 contest.
- UMHB scored two more runs in the sixth off of a two-RBI single to right field.
- The Cru would score once again in the seventh on a sacrifice squeeze bunt to make it a 5-1 ball game.
- The Blazers had a great opportunity in the bottom of the seventh to close down on the lead, but were unable to bring anybody home.
- Mary-Hardin Baylor collected two more runs of insurance in the eighth and ninth innings.
- Belhaven stranded nine runners on the base path at the conclusion of the game.Â
