JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University softball team opened home play Wednesday afternoon against cross-town rival Millsaps. The Blazers defeated the Majors by a final score of 4-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the top of the third inning, the Majors struck first after a throwing error allowed Millsaps to take the lead 1-0.
- The Blazers answered in the bottom half of the third inning, scoring two runs on a two-out single off the bat of Makayla Reed to take the lead 2-1.
- The very next at-bat Cassidy Blount doubled off the wall, scoring Makayla Reed from second to extend the lead to 3-1.
- Millsaps crossed the plate in the top of the fourth to cut the Blazers lead down to 3-2.
- Kaitlyn Blubaugh drove in a run for the green and gold in the bottom of the fourth, giving Belhaven a 4-2 advantage.
- Jordan Herring shut the Majors out in the final three innings, earning the win and helping the Blazers improve to 3-2 on the season.

- Makayla Reed drove in two RBI's, scored one run, and finished 1-for-2 at the plate.
- Cassidy Blount tallied a double, an RBI, and ended the contest 1-for-3.
