ABILENE, Texas – The Belhaven University men's basketball team fell to Hardin-Simmons 94-71 on Saturday evening in ASC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first six minutes of the contest saw the Blazers and Cowboys have multiple lead changes with Belhaven holding a slight 12-11 lead with 14:05 remaining in the first period.
- The Cowboys quickly went on a run to jump out to a nine point 23-14 lead before Belhaven responded with a 7-0 run of their own too pull back within 23-21.
- However, the Cowboys continued to make runs as they once again went on a 9-0 run to go distance themselves to a 32-21 lead with 2:11 remaining in the half.
- HSU went into the half up eight points, 35-27.
- Five minutes into the second half, Belhaven trailed 49-39, yet got eight points in the next two minutes out of Joseph Jones and Joshua Roberts combined to cut the lead back down to 49-47,
- Despite the comeback, the Cowboys continued to distanced themselves from the Blazers, reaching a twenty point 83-63 lead with 4:01 remaining in the contest.
- Hardin-Simmons closed the game out defeating Belhaven by a final score of 94-71.
- Belhaven fell to 1-5 and 0-2 in the American Southwest Conference with the loss.

KEY STATISTICS
- Brosnan Cooks finished with a double-double which include 14 points, 10 rebounds, and one block.
- Joseph Jones had 11 points and was 3-for-3 from the free throw line.
- Joshua Roberts, Justin Jones, Rick Hodum, and Kelvin Pruitt each added 8 points in the contest.
- Roberts and Hodum were both 2-of-4 from 3-point range while Justin Jones led Belhaven with two steals.
- As a team, Belhaven shot 39 percent (23-of-59) with 30 points in the paint, and 25 points off the bench.
