Women’s Soccer Draws 2-2 Tie With the Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – The Belhaven University women's soccer team drew their second tie of the season against the University of the Ozarks Thursday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
- The Eagles quickly found the back of the net in the 3rd minute to take an early 1-0 advantage. 

- In the 16th minute, the Ozarks scored once again to bring the score to 2-0.

- The Blazers did not waste any time, as Erica Rempel found the back of the net for her seventh goal on the season. Cat Petro was awarded the assist. 

- Going into the halftime break the Eagles led the Blazers 2-1.

- Lauren Smith scored a beautiful goal in the upper right corner of the net to bring the score to 2-2 in the 72nd minute of action.

- The Blazers' defense held strong to finish regulation to send the match to overtime.

- The Ozarks had opportunities to score in the first overtime period, but the Blazers held their ground to send the match into a second overtime.

- The second overtime period got a little physical, as yellow cards were handed out on both sides of the ball.

- The Ozarks had a shot-on-goal, but Goalkeeper Georgia Jordan was there for the save.

- Neither team scored in the overtime period to make the final score 2-2.

KEY STATISTICS
 
- Goalkeeper Georgia Jordan kept the Blazers in the match with 15 saves.

- Jennifer Hosey and Lauren Smith led the Green and Gold with three shots each. Additionally, Smith added a goal in the contest.

- Erica Rempel tallied two shots and one goal.

- Alex Trammel and Cat Petro each posted a shot during the match.

- As a team, the Blazers recorded 10 shots with four of them being on-goal.
