Belhaven, LeTourneau Tie 1-1 On Senior Night

JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven University men's soccer team tied with the LeTourneau Yellow Jackets Saturday night with a 1-1 final score. 

The tie brought the Blazers overall record to 4-9-3 and 2-7-1 in ASC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Belhaven took an early lead off after the Blazers got a lift from an Alex Hale penalty kick to give Belhaven a 1-0 lead just 28:12 into the game.

- Seven minutes later, LeTourneau answered with a goal from Eric Smith to tie the game up 1-1.

- Both teams entered the half knotted up at 1-1 yet Belhaven outshot the Yellow Jackets 6-2.

- Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second half, forcing overtime to decide the outcome on senior night.

- Twenty overtime minutes were not enough to decide a victor in the contest as the Yellow Jackets and Blazers finished with a tie score of 1-1.

KEY STATISTICS

- Belhaven shot a total of twelve times in the match with five shots being on goal.

- Alex Hale led Belhaven with six shots, two shots on goal, and the lone goal for Belhaven in the contest.

- Nathan Ratzlaff finished with a second best, two shots, and one shot on goal for the Green and Gold. Lalesh Hadji, Andres Garcia, Robert Mims, and Tyler White each collected a shot. Hadji and Garcia had one shot on goal a piece.
