JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University women's soccer team fell 4-0 at home on Saturday afternoon to the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor in American Southwest Conference play.
With the loss, the Blazers slip to 2-7-1 overall with a 1-4 record in ASC action.
The Cru scored their first goal in the sixth minute of the contest to take an early 1-0 advantage.
Mary Hardin-Baylor continued to control the offensive pace on the pitch, and would score another goal in the ninth minute to lead 2-0.
Belhaven had two shots on-goal in the first half with a shot that bounced off of the crossbar from Catherine Waggonner, followed by a header that just went over the post from Erica Rempel.
In the second half, Mary Hardin-Baylor quickly added another goal in the first two minutes to jump ahead 3-0.
Midway through the period, the Cru would score for a fourth time off of a direct kick to open the gap at 4-0.
Erica Rempel fired a shot late in the second half that ripped off the top of the crossbar, but the Blazers remained scoreless as they were unable to find the back of the net.
The Blazers posted six shots in total and finished with two shots on-goal. The Crusaders collected 19 shots and finished with 11 shots on-goal.
Belhaven will next play in Abilene, Texas on Thursday, October 5 at Hardin-Simmons. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
