JACKSON, Miss. – Week five of Belhaven will kickoff Saturday, September 30 as the Blazers hot ASC foe Howard Payne University inside Belhaven Bowl Stadium for Family Weekend. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm.
Saturday's game will mark the second all-time meeting between Belhaven and Howard Payne University. The Blazers and the Yellow Jackets played a tightly contested game last season in the lone previous matchup between the two schools. Belhaven leads the series 1-0
The Blazers (1-2) are coming off of a 79-40 loss on the road in Marshall, Texas to East Texas Baptist University last week.
Leading the offensive charge at ETBU was trio
Hunter McEachern,
Jacob McNeill, and
LaMarcus Caradine.
McEachern who is the reigning National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week and ASC Offensive Player of the Week, completed 33 of 51 passes for 482 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception.
McNeill, who was awarded C Spire Athlete of the Week, finished the evening with 11 catches for 184 yards and one touchdown while Caradine finished with 5 catches for 102 yards and three touchdowns.
Defensively, the Blazers were led by duo
Latevinan Glass, who posted 10 total tackles, 4 solo and 6 assisted and
Denarrius Noel, who was the force in the backfield with 5 total tackles and 2 sacks.
Led by Head Coach, Braxton Harris, the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets enter Belhaven Bowl Stadium with the record of 0-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Yellow Jackets has allowed an average of 53 points per game on the defensive side of the ball and are averaging 19.33 points on the offensive side of the ball.
The Blazers will be on the road October 7, to face off against McMurry University War Hawks. Kickoff is set for 12:30 pm.
