PINEVILLE, La. - After an unbelievable win Saturday against UT Tyler, the Blazers volleyball team returned to action Wednesday night on the road against Louisiana College.
The Blazers entered tonights matchup with an overall record of 5-5, looking to build off their momentum from the previous win.Â
It did not take long to find that momentum as Belhaven would travel to Pineville, Louisiana and take all three sets against Louisiana College by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-17 to capture the win on the night.
For Belhaven, Freshman Carissa Pauda would pace the team with a team high 8 kills on the night. Once again, C-Spire Athlete of the Week Blaykleigh Smythe would turn up another great game with 6 kills and 1 block.Â
Ryan Hardin would add 5 more kills to the Blazers total of 31 kills on the night. Junior, Lauren Whiting totaled 7 digs, 1 block, and added 2 service aces. Along with Whiting, Jackie Fredericks and Megan Nobles recorded 2 service aces each.
Katy Grace Abbott had a stellar game, leading the Blazers with 14 digs and 1 assist. Senior, Kelly Aholt would add to her team leading 221 assists on the season, by registering 18 assists tonight.Â
With the win, the Blazers improved to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in ASC play. This young team continues to gain momentum as they head into the ASC Crossover Challenge this weekend in Longview, Texas.Â
Game one for the Blazers (6-5) in the ASC Challenge will be played on Friday against Concordia University Texas (5-5) starting at 5:30 p.m.
Belhaven will continue their play on Saturday against Sul Ross State University (2-10) at 10 a.m. and McMurry (8-3) at 5:30 p.m.
