Blazers Football Prepares For First Road Game Against Texas Lutheran

JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven football team is preparing for its battle on the gridiron with Texas Lutheran Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium in Seguin, Texas at 6 p.m.

The Blazers (1-0) will look to keep their winning streak alive after a 42-37 season-opening victory against rival Millsaps College in the Riverside Rumble. It was the first ever victory in the Belhaven Bowl Stadium and the second straight year to beat the Majors.

Leading the offensive charge for the Blazers were Hunter McEachern and Nolan Satcher.   McEachern finished the first-half with 4 touchdowns going 16 for 27 for 263 yards while Nolan Satcher collected three first-half touchdown receptions and recorded 82 receiving yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Denarrius Noel led the way with 14 total tackles while Isaiah Blackmon posted a 30-yard pick six to swing the momentum back in Belhaven's favor. It eventually sealed the victory for the Green and Gold.

This will be the first meeting all-time between Belhaven and Texas Lutheran Bulldogs. This will be the Bulldogs' first game as members of the American Southwest Conference.

In Texas Lutheran's first game, the Bulldogs had 472 yards of total offense. Quarterback Kyle Grona completed 13-16 passes for 185 yards and three touchdowns.

The Bulldogs finished the 2016 season 2-8 with wins over Trinity and Austin College.

This will be the start of two consecutive road games for the Green and Gold opponents: Texas Lutheran this Saturday and East Texas Baptist University on September 23.

The Radio broadcast will be brought to you live on the Blazers Sports Network with Kevin Griffin on the call. You can also catch the game on live stream at portal.stretchinternet.com/tlu/
