ABILENE, Texas. – The Belhaven University football team fell to No. 5 Hardin-Simmons University Saturday afternoon by the score of 55-7 in American Southwest Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cowboys capitalized first on the first possession of the game when Landry Turner connected with Jaquan Hemphill on a 30-yard pass for the touchdown to take a 7-0 lead.
- HSU extended their lead on a quarterback draw for an 8-yard score. The PAT from Luis Diaz was off the post to make the score 13-0.
- With 5:36 left in the first quarter, the Cowboys added another touchdown to the board when Marc Reed ran for a 6-yard score to make the score 20-0.
- HSU's quarterback Landry Turner found wide receiver Devonté Walker in the end zone for a 7-yard touchdown to bring the score to 27-0 for the final score in the first quarter.
- The Cowboys added two more touchdowns in the second quarter to extend the lead to 41-0.
- With 16 seconds remaining until halftime, the Blazers would get on the board when
Hunter McEachern connected with
Brad Foley on a 4-yard touchdown to trim the score to 41-7.
- Hardin-Simmons would add two more touchdowns in the second half to bring the final score to 55-7
