TOUGALOO, Miss. - The Belhaven University volleyball team fell in five sets at Tougaloo College on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. The match marked the final game of the 2017 season for the Blazers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blazers started off the match on a strong note with a close first set victory.
- Belhaven finished the first set with 13 kills, as Lauren Whiting ended the set with a kill at the net.
- The second set went back and forth between both squads as they constantly traded the lead throughout the midway point of the second set.
- Tied at 18-18, Belhaven went on a quick spur of three straight points to rebuild their advantage at 21-18. The Blazers would win the final three points of the set as Whiting again tallied the set-winning kill.
- With a 2-0 lead, the Blazers were aiming for the sweep. The Blazers led 23-21 late in the set, but Tougaloo would stay alive and rally by winning the final four points to claim a 25-23 set victory.
- The Bulldogs carried their momentum over into the fourth set. Belhaven was playing from behind for the entire set and were never able to fully catch up and make a run at the Bulldogs' lead and eventual 25-20 set win.
- The final set proved to be another close matchup. With the Blazers trailing 14-11, the Green and Gold would stave off three consecutive match points to even up the set at 14-14.
- However, Tougaloo would record the final two points of the set to claim the match at 16-14.

KEY STATISTICS
- Kelly Aholt registered 49 assists.
- Lauren Whiting tallied a career-high 18 kills. Whiting also added 17 digs.
- Ryan Hardin posted 11 kills while Blaykleigh Smythe added 10 respectively.
- Katy Grace Abbott collected a career-high 31 digs in the loss. Abbott also ended the match with a team-high three service aces.
- Sydney McEachern added 14 digs and Jackie Fredericks notched 10.
- Hope Tourney recorded two solo blocks.
- The Blazers finished the match with 55 kills and seven service aces.
