JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven women's soccer team fell inside the Belhaven Bowl Stadium by the score of 5-1 to Sul Ross State University on Thursday evening in American Southwest Conference play.

Jessica Mahoney scored the lone goal of the match after an assist from
Catherine Waggonner in the 18
th minute to give Belhaven a quick 1-0 lead.

Sul Ross would find the back of the net in the 25
th minute of play to tie the match at 1-1. The Lady Lobos would continue to control the offensive side of the ball after Lauren Ebbs scored another goal to give the Lady Lobos a 2-1 advantage going into halftime.

In the second half, Sul Ross State University added two more quick goals in the 54
th minute to extend their lead to 4-1. Lauren Ebbs would score her third goal in the 56
th minute to make the score 5-1.

Duo
Erica Rempel and
Jessica Mahoney led the Green and Gold with four shots apiece.
Dominique Farias fired two shots, while
Haley Merrell picked up a shot in the match.

Goalkeeper
Noelle Hill tabbed 2 saves in 90 minutes.

As a team, the Blazers finished with 11 shots total with five being on goal. Sul Ross also fired 11 total shots with seven shots being on goal.

With the loss, Belhaven fell to 2-10-1 overall and 1-7 in the ASC, while the Lady Lobos improved to 6-3-1 overall and 4-2-1 in ASC play.

The Blazers will return to action on the road on Oct. 19, to face off against LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
