RICHARDSON, Texas – The Belhaven Blazers fell in a heartbreaker Saturday afternoon as UT Dallas walked off with a homerun in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Belhaven 6-5.
Belhaven fell behind early to the Comets as the hosts scored two runs on a wild pitch and a dropped fly ball in the third inning.
The Blazers answered back with three runs in the fifth inning, coming off of two homeruns from
Dani Craft and
Carly Yasses. Yasses gave the Blazers a 3-2 lead as
Hannah Holloway was on base for two RBIs.
UT Dallas answered back in the bottom half of the inning, capitalizing on a two-run error with two outs in the inning.
Craft followed it back with her second homerun of the game, this time a two run homer to left center to give the Blazers a 5-4 lead.
However, with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Aly Hudec hit a 0-1 pitch over the fence in left center to walk off with a two-run homer.
The Blazers are set to return to action on Tuesday in a non-conference doubleheader against Rust College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at McLeod Field.
