JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven women's basketball team returns to the hardwood after a week off on Saturday evening to take on Centenary in Shreveport, La. at the Gold Dome for a 6 p.m. tip.
The Blazers (2-3) are coming off losses to Concordia Texas and Mary Hardin-Baylor in American Southwest Conference (ASC) play last weekend.
Candler Gregory is coming off a season-best 17 points, including draining a season-high five 3-pointers in the contest against UMHB. The senior is 8-for-25 (32 percent) from downtown in the early goings of the 2016-17 season.
Vamikka Smith totaled 22 rebounds on the weekend against Concordia and Mary Hardin-Baylor. The junior recorded 13 boards in the matchup against UMHB. In the first five games of the season, the Mobile, Ala. native is averaging 8.2 rebounds per contest.
The Ladies of Centenary College (2-5) recently fell to Millsaps at home, 58-46, on Dec. 5. The team is averaging 62 points per game, while grabbing 41 rebounds per game this season.
Leading the offensive charge is Jasmine Morris, who is averaging 15.7 points per game, and is leading the team in assists (19). She has averaged 5.9 rebounds per game.
Deunya Small has been a presence on the glass for the first seven games for the Ladies. She is averaging 10.9 rebounds per game, and of her 76 total boards, 31 have been on the offensive glass.
