JACKSON, Miss. - Week six of Belhaven Football will kickoff Saturday, October 8 as the Blazers travel to Alpine, Texas to take on ASC foe Sul Ross State. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The week six matchup with Sul Ross State marks the first game since the season opener at Millsaps on Sept. 1 that Belhaven will not be facing a team ranked in the D3Football.com Top 25. The Blazers competed against No. 2 Wisconsin-Whitewater in week two, No. 19 Huntingdon in week three and No. 17 East Texas Baptist in week five.
Through five weeks this season, Belhaven's four opponents have amassed a 12-2 record.
The Blazers are coming off of a 60-47 loss to East Texas Baptist last week in the team's home opener inside the brand-new Belhaven Bowl Stadium. After the Tigers got out to a 32-17 lead through the first half, the Blazers fought back admirably, outscoring the 17th ranked team in NCAA Division III 30-28 in the second half of play.
The Blazers began the season by winning the seventh edition of the Riverside Rumble on Sept. 1 against rival Millsaps at Harper Davis Field, rallying back from a 17-7 halftime deficit to defeat the Majors 28-25.
Sul Ross State enters Saturday's matchup with a 1-3 season mark. The Lobos lone win of the season came in week two versus Wayland Baptist University. Sul Ross began the season with a 27-6 defeat to Texas-Permian Basin, and also have losses to Arizona Christian University and Hardin-Simmons University.
Sul Ross finished the 2015 season with a 3-7 overall record and a 1-4 mark in American Southwest Confernence action. The Lobos compiled just a 1-3 record at home.
Saturday's game will mark the second all-time meeting between Belhaven and Sull Ross State. The Blazers won the first all-time meeting on Nov. 7, 2015, 12-6.
