TYLER, TEXAS - The Belhaven women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to the University of Texas at Tyler Thursday evening at Perkins Complex in Tyler, Texas. 

Brittany Matthews recorded her third hat-trick of the season to lead the Patriots to victory. 

Kathleen Johnson got the Patriots on the board first in the 18th minute, and Matthews tallied goals in the 29th and 35th minutes to give Texas-Tyler a 3-0 lead heading into halftime. 

Erica Rempel got a goal back for the Blazers four minutes into the second half, netting her fifth goal of the season. 

Matthews scored her third goal of the game in the 57th minute to extend the Texas-Tyler lead back to three goals. 

Belhaven (4-8) totaled eight shots and three shots on goal while Texas-Tyler (8-2) fired 35 shots with 18 being on frame. 

Rempel, Jessica Mahoney and Reagan Hern led the Blazers with two shots each. 

Belhaven goalkeeper Alexis McDonald collected a season-high 14 saves. 

Next up, the Blazers head to Clarksville, Ark. on Saturday to face the University of the Ozarks in the team's final road game of the season. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
