Lexington, Ky. – The Belhaven Men's Soccer Team defeated Hanover 1-0 in its season opener in the Transylvania Soccer Showcase on Saturday afternoon.
The Blazers (1-0) took 17 shots for the match, with 12 of those shots on goal.
The Blazers held the Panthers (0-2) offense in check, only allowing eight shots, with two coming in the first half.

Andrew West sealed the win for Belhaven with a goal in the 53
rd minute off an assist from
Lucas Talaveira-Befi.
Junior goalkeeper
Ben Schaefer saved five shots on goal by the Panthers in the match.
With today's win, the Blazers improve to 22-10-1 in season openers, winning eight of their last eleven.
The Blazers will remain in Lexington to play a Labor Day match against host Transylvania. The match is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
