MARSHALL, Texas - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team was unable to complete the comeback against East Texas Baptist, falling 3-2 on Friday afternoon at Cornish Field.
The Blazers (3-6-1) snap their two-match winning streak. The Blazers also ended a streak of over 200 minutes without the opposition scoring a goal, which ended in the 12th minute by ETBU.
Almost 17 minutes later, a foul was drawn the Tigers (3-7).
Ashley Harber was able to score her third goal of the season on a free kick to even the score at one.
ETBU came out strong in the second half by scoring two goals in a three-minute span from the 61st minute to the 64th minute to break the tie and take a 3-1 advantage.
The Blazers were able to get one back against the Tigers by
Jessica Mahoney, her second goal of the year, in the 77th minute off an assist by
Emily Chastain.
Mahoney's goal was the 10th of her career. She becomes the 18th women's soccer player to accomplish 10 goals in a career.
The Blazers have yet to win this season when the opposition scores first (0-5).
Belhaven falls to 16-3-2 against current ASC institutions, while also falling to 19-14-2 against institutions from the Lone Star State.
The Blazers will travel to LeTourneau to finish up this weekend's road trip on Saturday. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Longview.
