Blazers Finish Strong against Rust and Dillard

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Belhaven Volleyball team dominated in the second day of the Centenary College Tournament, beating Rust College and Dillard University.
 
The Blazers finished the match 3-0 against a struggling Rust team.  In the first set, Belhaven won 25-7, second set 25- 5, and the final set 25-4. 
 
 
Leading the way for the Blazers in aces was Libero Cassidy Fitzpatrick with 10, making that a new match high.  Fitzpatrick achieved another match high of 10 points against Rust.
 
Chae Levy collected 7 service aces against the Panthers, marking a new season high in that category.  She also had one block.
 
Freshman Vicky Vo led the way for the Blazers in digs with three, as she also completed the match with one assist.
 
Meghan Luker added 13 assists and four kills of her own to the Blazers stats.
 
Katie Ladd collected the most kills for the Blazers with 6.  The majority of Belhaven's scoring came from the service aces, 5 of which are credited to Molly Boyer.
 
In the match against Dillard, the Blazers won 3-1, winning the first two sets 25-15 and 25-18.  The Bleu Devils avoided a shutout loss by winning the third set 25-23.  However, the Blazers responded by taking the fourth and final set 25-14.
 
Freshman Lauren Whiting collected 15 kills and two digs in the match.
 
Jackie Gunderson and Chae Levy each had 12 kills while Molly Boyer had 14 of her own.
 
Kelly Aholt finished the match with 14 digs and 49 assists.
 
The Belhaven Volleyball team finishes the 2015 season on a 3 game win streak at 12-18 on the season.
