Women’s Soccer Shut Out Lady Eagles 1-0

JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team used an early first half goal to defeat the Ozarks on Thursday night, 1-0, at the Belhaven Bowl.

Belhaven (4-7-1) notches its fifth clean sheet of the season and are 4-0 when scoring first.

Following a blocked shot by Samantha Penrod in the 18th minute, Laura Quintero took to the corner for a corner kick on the right side of the field. Following the kick, Ashley Harber was there to score the goal, which is the fourth goal of the season for Harber.

The Blazers outshot the Lady Eagles (2-9-2) in the match, 10-6

"Today's overall team performance was so-so. We got the win and that is great for us," said head coach Josue Sabillon. "At the same time, there were team and individual inconsistencies that need to be addressed before our next match. Nonetheless, I was glad to see that the team fought to hang on for the win, and now, we move on to improve the inconsistencies and limit those."

The Blazers remain at home over the weekend as they will host Texas-Tyler at the Bowl for Homecoming and for Senior Night. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
