Box Score BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Belhaven's Women's Basketball team was defeated 78-59 by Blue Mountain College Saturday afternoon in Southern States Athletic Conference play.
The Blazers led a tight game early on, holding an 18-15 lead halfway through the first half. However, Blue Mountain used a 20-2 run over the next six minutes and Belhaven was unable to recover from the deficit.
Belhaven shot 38 percent (20-of-52) from the field in the game and just 25 percent (4-of-16) from three-point range.
The teams split the rebounds, 36 a piece, but the Blazers defense allowed the Toppers to shoot 46 percent (26-of-57) from the field.
Belhaven had 25 turnovers in the game, which was turned into 17 Blue Mountain points. The Blazers finished with just four steals in the game.
Arial Wilson was the only Blazer in double figures in points, finishing with 19 on 7-of-16 shooting. The sophomore's 19 was a game high for both teams.
TaShayla Steede was able to pull down 10 rebounds in the game and finished with seven points.
Starters
Kenya Wright and
Candler Gregory finished with nine and eight points, respectively. Wright also finished with a game-high five assists.
Belhaven will return home for its next game against Loyola University on February 5. The game is set for a 5:30 p.m. start at Rugg Arena.
