Belhaven's home win streak snapped with 66-52 loss to Mobile

JACKSON, Miss. – Belhaven Men's Basketball fell to the University of Mobile 66-52 Saturday night in SSAC play, snapping a four-game home win streak, including three games against SSAC opponents.

The game was tight after 20 minutes, as the Blazers (7-14, 3-6 SSAC) trailed Mobile (8-12, 3-6 SSAC) 26-25 in a low-scoring contest. Belhaven was able to take the lead early in the second half as Jordan Bedford hit a three pointer to put the Blazers up 30-28 with 18:14 remaining.

However, that was the last that Belhaven would lead. After Mobile took the lead back on two different occasions in the next few minutes, the Blazers were only able to tie the game twice before the Rams slowly pulled away.

Offensively, Belhaven struggled on the night, connecting on just 38 percent of shots and 33 percent from three-point range. Belhaven was also just 19-of-30 from the free-throw line.

Bedford and Datodrick Pinkston led the way in scoring for the Blazers, finishing among four players from both teams at a game high 14 points. Most of Bedford's points came from four three pointers, as the nations leading scorer was kept away from the free throw line for the entirety of the game.

Pinkston was 4-of-6 from the field and also had six free throws. Pinkston led the Blazers with eight rebounds in the game.

Belhaven had just six assists on the night, a season low. The Blazers also had just three-second chance points while Mobile converted their second chance opportunities into 17 points in the game.
