Box Score 2 BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Belhaven softball team (29-8, 11-5 SSAC) saw a three game winning streak come to a close on Saturday after splitting an afternoon doubleheader with Blue Mountain College (14-15, 2-10 SSAC). The Blazers dropped the opener 7-6 before shutting out the Toppers 5-0 in Game Two.

Dominique Corona paced the Blazers with four hits, including one of the team's three for extra bases.
Emily Todd,
Shelby Watson, and
Ashlee Hitt combined for six base hits, while Watson connected on her third home run of the season.
Jessica Paris was tagged for four runs on five hits through three innings in the circle. Watson and
Ginger Lonergan teamed up for the final 3.1 innings, allowing three runs in relief. Lonergan was charged with the loss after giving up two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Heather Noe served as the primary bright spot for the Toppers at the plate, driving in three runs on a fourth-inning home run.
Brooke Denton got the start in the circle for Blue Mountain and permitted five runs on eight Belhaven hits through 5.1 innings. Jessalyn Brown recorded the final five outs en route to the win, limiting the Blazers to just one earned run.
Belhaven returned to the win column in Game Two, besting the Toppers by a tally of 5-0. The Blazers scratched across a run in the second and another in the third before putting the game away with a three-run sixth inning.
Corona and
Jessica Paris each launched a home run to help boost the offense, while Todd and
Haley Yasses each provided a multi-hit effort. Five different Blazers drove in a run, which proved to be plenty for Lonergan in the circle.
"Dominique has been on fire lately offensively," Belhaven Head Coach
Kevin Griffin said. "She has been good all year but has been great lately."
The senior right hander went the distance, allowing seven hits while striking out three and walking just one. Blue Mountain's Rebecca Sloan last 5.2 innings, surrendering five runs on nine hits while walking four and fanning two. Brown came in to hurl the final 1.1 innings for the Toppers, and her loan flaw was a hit batter.
Haley Knepp and Whitney Hardwick each laced a pair of hits, while Meggin Nelson, Nicki Whitten, and Brooke Denton were each able to land a single off of Lonergan. The Blazers now hold the season series edge three games to one.
Belhaven will return to action on Tuesday, when they will host Southern States Athletic Conference rival William Carey University at McLeod Field. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
