Emmanuel (6-28, 2-16 SSAC) took the early lead in game one with two runs in the top of the first and set the tone for a back and forth battle at least through the first three innings. The Blazers countered with a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by
Dominique Corona and then pulled in front for the first time with two runs in the bottom of the second.
Jessica Paris sent the ball over the left center field fence with
Katy Adair on base for a two run home run.
Trailing 3-2 in the top of the third, the Lions clawed back with a two run blast of their own off the bat of Britney Burton.
Denee' Crawford led the charge back for Belhaven in the bottom of the third with her first home run of the game. She crossed the plate along with
Emily Todd who had doubled with one out in the frame.
The Blazers tacked on four more runs to their total in the fourth on a pair of two run homers. The first sailed over the fence off the bat of
Shelby Watson and then Crawford went deep for the second time to cap the inning. Belhaven notched an insurance run in the fifth on a solo blast from pinch hitter Ashley Hitt.
Meanwhile, the pitching trio of
Katy Adair,
Ginger Lonergan, and
Samantha Massoth kept Emmanuel in check with four runs over the seven innings. Adair (9-4) took home the win by logging four innings. She permitted four runs, with only two being earned, on three hits. Lonergan tossed 2.2 frames and Massoth came in to record the final out in the 10-4 win.

Belhaven's offense was led by Todd and Adair who each had two hits and two runs batted in. Crawford had one hit but knocked in three more runs giving her seven on the day. Hitt picked up two RBI on a double followed by Watson and Corona with one hit and an RBI each.
In the circle, Paris (10-2) was credited with the win after tossing three scoreless innings. Massoth and
Kelly Rogers pitched the fourth and fifth innings respectively to close things out.
Kalen Callaway made it through 1.1 innings before the Blazers offense drove her from the circle. Callaway was charged with the loss after allowing 11 runs on eight hits. Belhaven pitching limited the Lions to just three hits in the second game. Hembree, Madison Franklin, and Britt Duckworth all picked up one hit each.
The Blazers will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Faulkner University for another SSAC doubleheader starting at 2:00 PM.
