JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven women's basketball team dropped their second consecutive game after an 83-79 loss to Concordia on Saturday evening. The Lady Hornets sweep the Blazers on the year.
The Blazers (7-4, 1-1 SSAC) finished the first half with a five-point edge over the Hornets, but a second half Lady Hornet took the game into overtime. Concordia finished overtime on an 8-3 run, with
Jasmine Brown knocking a three-pointer for the Blazers as the buzzer sounded.
"We played really well, but I felt as though we expended a lot of energy while being down in regulation, and Concordia came in and beat us."
Ariel Wilson neared a triple double on the night with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists on the night.
TaShayla Steede finished with a double-double of her own, with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Tykeria Johnson's 20 points and 12 rebounds led the Lady Hornets.
All but two Blazers scored points in tonight's contest. Each member of the team saw at least two minutes of action tonight's contest.
Concordia finished the game with a higher field goal percentage than Belhaven, shooting 49% (30-61) to the Blazers 43% (33-76).
The Lady Hornets edge the Blazers on the boards with 42 rebounds to Belhaven's 40. Belhaven bested Concordia with 20 assists to the Lady Hornets 17.
The Blazers will travel across town to battle rival Tougaloo College. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 P.M.
